The Travelling Band

Since their humble beginnings as a self proclaimed ‘folk noir’ outfit winning the Emerging Talent Competition in 2008, The Travelling Band have developed into one of the most exciting Americana artists in the UK. Their critically acclaimed 3rd album ‘The Big Defreeze’ (2014) received great reviews from Q, Uncut, Drowned in Sound, Louder Than War and R2 Magazine, as well as national airplay from Dermot O’Leary and Bob Harris, pushing the Manchester based 5-piece to new heights. With sold out dates in Manchester and London in 2016 and having previously performed at renowned national festivals such as Glastonbury (Other Stage/Park/Acoustic), Cropredy, Green Man, Festival No.6 and Beautiful Days (to name but a few), the band are no strangers to wowing fans both old and new at their live shows.

The future of the The Travelling Band was cast into doubt in December 2014 when their van, containing £30,000 of equipment, was stolen in Manchester. The story was shared widely throughout the band’s fanbase and the music community. Following a public appeal the story made national news with NME, BBC, ITV and Channel 4. This exposure and support lead to the recovering of van with all their equipment mostly intact!

With their 4th studio album planned for release in summer 2017, an exciting batch of new material ensures us that the band are on track for an incredible year.
