Science speakers and Thursday night orchestral concert announced

POSTED: 27.2.2020

Revealing our first wave of science names and our Thursday night orchestral concert for 2020.

This year's extensive science line-up features headline talks from astronaut Tim Peake and Ann Druyan (co-creator with Carl Sagan of the legendary Cosmos TV series, Contact, and the Creative Director of the NASA Voyager missions), alongside a special Thursday night Opening Concert with The Hallé performing a unique live score to the original Cosmos series. Ilan Eshkeri, in collaboration with the European Space Agency, will present Space Station Earth - a brand new immersive show which allows the audience to experience space travel through the eyes of an astronaut.

Speakers include SETI Institute's Jill Tarter live from the USA, Chris Lintott of BBC's The Sky At Night, Libby Jackson of UK Space Agency, theoretical astrophysicist Katie Mack plus many more. Additionally, Yan and Noble from the Mercury Prize-nominated British Sea Power are set to perform a special live soundtrack to Out Of The Present as part of the festival's film programme.

They join a weekend of music and cosmic culture that includes already-announced Björk – her only UK festival appearance with a special orchestral show, Groove Armada, Metronomy plus many more.

TICKET WARNING – Last few Release 2 weekend tickets will be available until Sunday evening, at which point we will move up to Release 3. It's your final chance to book weekend tickets from £20 deposit on our 5 month payment plan, or book outright.
