Honor Gavin

Honor Gavin is a writer and musician. Midland: A Novel Out of Time (Penned in the Margins, 2014) was shortlisted for the Gordon Burn Prize in 2015. ‘Never Was’, her current project, is an experiment in the possibility of a novel without a world and a fable about fame and loss; Honor also sings and performs as ‘Fin’, the name of one of Never Was’ characters. She regularly writes for and with artists and along with Adam Kaasa recently published Uncommon Building: Collective Excavation of a Fictional Structure (Spirit Duplicator, 2017), which documents a collaborative and cross-disciplinary exercise in speculative fiction. She has written and published widely about Buster Keaton, Samuel Beckett, film and modern literature and is a member of Wicked Hag, a collective / record label for queer musicians based in Berlin. She currently teaches in the Centre for New Writing at the University of Manchester.

Gavin will be taking part in The Centre for New Writing’s panel discussion The Future of the Book
