Tallsaint

Songs of obsession, romance, anxiety and womanhood, with heavy grooves and electro-pop hooks, this is the musical DNA of Leeds based musician and songwriter Tallsaint.

Her debut single ‘I’m A Woman (After All)’ (released via independent Leeds label Dance To The Radio) was described by The Line of Best Fit, “an elastic, spring-loaded feel reminiscent of other similarly artful dance-inspired projects such as Little Dragon” and received Radio 1 air play.

Tallsaint writes on big themes, with the hooks and beats to match – her songwriting is inspired by family and experience. The object and subject of all Tallsaint’s songwriting is her younger sister (a videographer and collage-artist) who in a virtuous creative circle splices of hours of family home videos into Tallsaint’s music videos.

There’s no mistaking the influence of St Vincent, Little Dragon and Wild Beasts in Tallsaint’s thoughtful, knowing and eminently danceable art-pop. But beyond these ingredients in a healthy pinch of fragile lo-fi house, elastic baselines and the fragile soul of LCD Soundsystem, Hercules & Love Affair and Hot Chip.
