You Make Me Sick:
How can the sound of someone being sick make you gag – yet a painting with gory wounds and severed limbs can appear beautiful?

Dr Gillian Forrester is the founder and director of the Me, Human project. She is an Evolutionary and Developmental Psychologist based at Birkbeck, University of London, focusing on how humans evolved and develop to be the way we are today. She investigates the behaviours and brain organisation of children, gorillas and chimpanzees. Through the Me, Human project she collaborates with the public to investigate and educate about human cognition by hosting talks and live demonstrations (e.g. London Science Museum, City Lit, Soapbox Science: Canterbury, Brighton). She has featured on radio (BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 4 Archive, BBC Local); TV (BBC4, CNN; Reuters; BBC South East); science podcasts (e.g. Level Up Human, BBC Crowd Science, FutureProof); has written articles published by The Conversation, Discover Magazine, Psychology Today, Early Years Educator, Autism Parenting Magazine; and has had her research featured in The Washington Post, Discover Magazine and The Scientist Magazine.

Dr Simon Green is an Evolutionary Psychologist based at Birkbeck, University of London. He is a famously popular psychology lecturer with an interest in the evolutionary history of mental health afflictions (e.g. anxiety, schizophrenia) and the behaviour and brains of our ancient human ancestors. He literally has written a top selling book for A-level Oxford AQA Psychology!

Professor Catherine Loveday is a neuropsychologist based at the University of Westminster who studies memory, music and ageing. She makes regular appearances on BBC Radio 4’s “All in the Mind” as presenter’s friend; Discussant and main consultant on BBC Radio 4’s “How to have a better brain” series; Resident expert for BBC Radio 3/ Wellcome Trust Music and Memory weekend (Oct, 2017); Frequent invited expert on a variety of radio programmes (BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 6, BBC Radio 2, BBC local radio); Appearances on BBC TV and Channel 5; Speaker at a range of festivals (e.g. Latitude; Festival Number 6; Blue Dot; Also); Written articles published by The Conversation, The Guardian, Huffington Post, The Quietus, ‘I’ News, BBC Focus, BBC Music Magazine.
