The Arboretum, originally planted Sir Bernard Lovell, is bucolic location ideal for a relaxing escape from the main arena. Expect an expansive, wooded botanical gardens of natural beauty, with hundreds of tree specimens from around the globe lining winding paths, exotic flowerbeds and idyllic clearings. Keep your eyes peeled for the Galaxy Garden; a spiral-shaped configuration of living plants in a nod to the Lovell Telescope’s search through deep-space.
While its natural assets make the Arboretum a special location in and of itself, the area is home to a kids play area, yoga sessions, the Planet Field, workshops, poetry and live music on the Roots Stage. The Arboretum also plays host to Outer Space: a parallel universe of multi-sensory, immersive arts and culture.
